What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a safe and painless clinical skincare treatment that manually exfoliates the superficial layers of the skin while helping remove vellum hair, delivering an instant glow to the skin. Dermaplaning has been around for 40 years and has recently gained popularity in the medical esthetic field. The treatment involves gently gliding a stainless-steel scalpel blade across the skin to remove keratinized cell and peach fuzz. After the treatment, client will not peel or visibly shed skin. This is a great alternative to peels for those who desire professional grade exfoliation without downtime.
Who is this beneficial for?
It is an effective treatment for dealing with the following skin issues: acne scars, uneven skin tones, dehydrated skin, sun-damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles. The removal of dead skin cells allows skin care products to be more effective, reduce the appearance of fine lines, even out skin tone, and keep your skin hydrated providing a healthy glow.

It is also not recommended for those with active break outs. If you have active acne, it is best to wait until breakouts are healed before starting this treatment.
What is cell turnover and why it is important?
Cell turnover is known as constant shedding of dead skin cells and subsequent replacement with younger cells of the epidermis. Young, healthy skin is shed and replaced approximately every 28 days. This is why younger skin appears brighter and radiant. The skin naturally shed dead skin cells. After the age of 35 year old, every decade beyond, it takes longer for these cells to shed causing the skin to appear greyish and dull. The older we become, the longer the cell's life span becomes to expose the healthier cells beneath. Dermpalning is excellent method to remove excess keratinized cells. It is recommended every 28 days to mimic the natural cellular turnover of youthful cells.
